Hello Friend,
Thank you for joining Team Kennedy! We’re honored to have you join us in this historic campaign to reclaim our democracy.
At the launch of this campaign in Boston just over a month ago, I declared that I was running for President for all Americans. Today, I am proud to share a short documentary about our historic launch. Please take a moment to watch this video and share it with your family and friends.
Running on Truth – The Promise of America
I’m a lifelong Democrat. I’m proud of my family’s long history in this party – standing up for the voiceless and the downtrodden when no one else would and trying to end wars that drain our nation’s coffers, leave our world less safe, and our working and middle class less well off.
But it doesn’t matter today what party you identify with, I am here to fight for all of us. Democrat, Republican, Libertarian, and Independent – what unites us is always more powerful than what divides us.
I’ve spent my entire career, over three decades in the trenches fighting for the environment, the health of our children, clean water, and clean air. I’ve spent my life standing up to the biggest corporations on Earth – those that hide the pollution and harm of their products behind powerful lobbyists and big PR firms.
Please join me today in helping spread this message to your family and friends – who are eager for a new Generation of Leadership. Your support today will make all the difference!
As a Democrat today, I’m as concerned about the powerful elements of my own party and of corporate interests as my father and uncle were over 50 years ago. Today, we have a media and political establishment that is desperate to hide the truth from us and worse – censoring those who dare to stand up and tell the truth. This is antithetical to democracy.
Young and old, poor and middle class, urban, rural, and everywhere in between – I'm asking you today to join this campaign and support our efforts to reclaim the heart and soul of our nation.
My father ran for President in 1968, on a similar mission. He ran to heal and unite a nation experiencing deep division and tribalism.
55 years ago, my father ran against the president of his own party, against war, and in a time of unprecedented polarization. Many felt he had no chance of winning. Yet, on the day he died, he won the California primary and South Dakota primary, uniting the most urban state and the most rural state on the same day toward one common vision for America.
When my father was buried, he was taken by train from New York to Washington, DC. That train ride normally takes less than 2 hours. That day, it took over 7 hours as 2 million people stood on the tracks to say goodbye. I will never forget how I felt seeing Black and white men together and hearing so many singing the Battle Hymn of the Republic.
Before my father passed, as he was on the campaign trail in 1968, he visited many of the poorest communities in America, in West Virginia and the Mississippi Delta. When he came back from the Delta one day, he told us around the dinner table :
“I was in a tar paper shack today, smaller than this dining room, with 2 families living there. The children eat one meal a day. When you get older, I want you to help these people." - Robert F. Kennedy Sr.
When he brought us to these communities, my Dad often told us:
"These are your people. These are Kennedy people. Big shots, corporations, and millionaires, they have lobbyists and PR firms. They have lawyers. They don’t need the Kennedys. These are the people you need to spend the rest of your life helping."
When I’m president, I’m going to be president for those people. You give me a piece of ground and a sword, and I am going to take back this country– with your help and the help of all Democrats, Republicans, Libertarians, and Independents — who are Americans first.
