Money should not be the reason anyone runs for office, or has a chance to win. Yet politics today is dominated by money — and corrupted by it — in ways that would have horrified our Founders as it horrifies us.

Please watch my video, in which I explain why ours is the campaign that will win in 2024. 

Why? Because we’re speaking to what is actually happening in people’s lives. The one in four Americans living with medical debt, students living in their car while attending college, people selling their blood plasma to make ends meet, and parents struggling to feed their parents are not that impressed by an infrastructure deal, the CHIPS Act, or an economic optimism expressed on cable TV but with no relevance to their daily lives.

My agenda speaks to what matters most. It speaks to human despair and hopelessness at a time when both are rampant. It motivates people because it offers a better way. Ours is the only progressive candidacy running in the Democratic Party, and it is time for all of us to ask ourselves how much that means to us personally... and what we’re willing to do in order to support it.

Yes, money has corrupted the system. But it will take money to uncorrupt it.

Franklin Roosevelt said we wouldn’t have to worry about a fascist takeover as long as democracy delivered on its promises. And there lies the rub. For the last forty years democracy has NOT delivered on its promises, and the only way to beat the GOP in 2024 is to promise — and deliver them — now.

That's why universal health care (supported by a majority of Republicans as well as Democrats), tuition free state college and tech school (also supported by a majority of Republicans as well as Democrats), child care and paid family leave, guaranteed sick pay and a guaranteed living watch are the winning agenda. It’s why a Department of Peace, a Department of Children and Youth, and ending America’s Drug War get such huge responses. 

People are not in the mood for the status quo. They’re in the mood to smash the status quo. They’re in the mood to disrupt the corrupt.
