The level of chaos happening in the world — including in this country — is not normal. Stress points long pushed to the limit have given way. We are experiencing the eruption of dysfunctional energies now overwhelming levies that for decades have kept them at bay.

It’s no longer a matter of warning that something is going to blow; things are blowing now. And they are going to land in one way or the other. They will either land in the direction of greater democracy, justice and love — or they will fall in the direction of chaos, authoritarianism and violence.

This is not a moment to simply wait and see; it is a moment to grab hold of history. It is a moment to realize we can and must change. We will either wisely and proactively move in the direction of much greater hope for far more people, or we will be forced to move in whatever direction that forces beyond our control are leading to.

Nothing could be more unwise, or tragic, than in 2024 to meet the Christo nationalist fascist energy now supporting Donald Trump with the stale and worn out energy of establishment neoliberal politics. No amount of money the Democrats can raise will be enough to override Trump’s mad dash toward fascism, if we don’t offer people a far more generous agenda for ways to improve their lives.

To win in 2024, we must meet Big Lies with Big Truth — but not the mealy mouthed truth of establishment politics. We must speak the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth regarding where we are and how we got here. We must meet the post political energy of Donald Trump with a post political energy of our own.

Joe Biden is not the one who can do that, and we must snap out of whatever delusional mindset would make us think he is. We must meet radical fear with radical love. The only way to defeat the undemocratic assaults on our democracy is to make sure our democracy delivers so much, with such vibrancy and justice, that the people themselves will choose it. Then and only then will the enemies of democracy be pushed back in our time as they have been pushed back in times before.

This is our moment and we need to seize it.
