Cheaters don't like getting caught

I began my career as a young prosecutor in Alameda County, California. Now, as Vice President of the United States, President Biden and I are running for reelection against Donald Trump, fresh off his trial where a jury of his peers unanimously found him guilty on 34 counts.

Since the verdict, Trump has attacked the judge and the witnesses, and said he is entitled to revenge. The simple reality is: Cheaters don't like getting caught.

Let's unpack this:

Trump was afforded the same due process entitled to any defendant under the law. His attorney participated in selecting members of the jury, and his attorney made decisions about which witnesses to call and which to cross-examine.

That's how our system is supposed to work, but the former president thinks he is above the law.

He thinks one set of rules should apply to him and another to everybody else.

The constant bullying, the belittling of people, the attempts to divide and fan the flames of fear -- that's not what real leaders do.
